what?EA fixed the servers for "Titanfall 2"? "Titanfall," a legendary yet somewhat regrettable IP, made a sensational debut with its first installment, which can be described as ushering in a "mech-based FPS craze." The performance of "Titanfall 2," the second entry in the series, took things to the next level. The well-received "single-player campaign" and "multiplayer mode" left a lasting impression on all players. However, despite these shining achievements, "Titanfall" did not receive much attention from EA. They gave up on maintaining and updating the game, leaving players to cope with increasingly "ghostly" servers. Fast forward seven years, and players have not only failed to get a new "Titanfall" game but have even struggled to experience the existing one. Since 2019, "Titanfall 2" has been plagued by various mysterious external DDOS attacks. At the worst of times, the online servers couldn't even match players properly. What infuriated players further was the official response, or rather the lack of it. EA and Respawn didn't make timely efforts to fix the servers, allowing hackers to run rampant. After enduring six months of external DDOS attacks, players had had enough and decided to take matters into their own hands. They set up a private server called "Northstar." "Northstar" allowed players to "use custom scripts and host their servers with custom content, significantly reducing the risk of server attacks." While console players could only look on with envy, PC players temporarily enjoyed a rare sanctuary. In January of this year, a fatal vulnerability in "Titanfall 2" was exposed on the official servers. Any player logging into the game had a high chance of having their game data tampered with by hackers. The impact of this vulnerability led to issues like "data resets," "exceeding level limits," and "data anomalies leading to bans." Ultimately, it was up to the "Northstar" leader and players to bring the vulnerability to EA's attention. It's a rare occurrence for players to essentially "clean up" after the official game company. Perhaps this serious vulnerability was the wake-up call EA needed, or maybe an insider had infiltrated Respawn's studios. Surprisingly, "Titanfall 2's" official servers were quietly repaired. Just last week, the Reddit forum's "Titanfall" moderator and the head of "Northstar," "Gecko Eidechse," posted that the official servers for "Titanfall 2" across all platforms had been completely fixed by Respawn, allowing for smooth online gameplay. The surprises brought by "Titanfall 2" for players weren't over. Upon logging back into the game, players discovered a new mode named "???" that only allows players to use Titan rocket pods for team deathmatches. The game servers were fixed, and a completely new mode was added, which was something no one expected from EA. With the official servers repaired, "Titanfall 2" experienced a resurgence in popularity in a short period. The maximum number of players online on Steam surpassed 20,000, and many players reported that game matchmaking now takes only around 10 seconds. This resurgence made the game feel as if it had returned to its 2016 launch days. In fact, Respawn made several updates to "Titanfall 2" in the first half of this year. Issues affecting servers were fixed, and the "limited-time modes" in the playlist were also rotated. The game even introduced crossover easter eggs with "Apex Legends," all of which indicated that there was someone within Respawn quietly maintaining "Titanfall 2" despite the pressure from higher-ups. As far back as 2021, a community coordinator leaked that "Titanfall 2" had only 1-2 operators for server maintenance. Looking at the severe server vulnerabilities now, it's indeed a challenging task to maintain the game with only two people. This is all while the studio's overall focus is on "Apex Legends." While we often say that "having empathy with game publishers is foolish," at least in the case of "Titanfall 2," someone is willing to make every effort to improve players' gaming experience. Perhaps "Titanfall 3" may never appear before us in this lifetime, but what can be confirmed is that there is currently at least one person trying to regain the trust of "pilots" in "Titanfall 2"!
