The little loli is too cute! Capcom has managed to pass through again! Capcom celebrated its 40th anniversary on June 11th this year and marked the occasion with a special game showcase event called the "Capcom Showcase" on June 13th. While the event featured information on several new games like "Dragons Dogma 2," "Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective," and "Knitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess," it appeared that players were not particularly interested in the content of this 40th-anniversary event. Capcom has been one of the few game developers in recent years known for delivering consistently high-quality games. Consequently, expectations for this event were quite high. However, compared to Microsoft's well-prepared showcase featuring exciting titles like "Starfield," Capcom's announcements seemed to lack some surprises. Capcom rehashed "Ace Attorney 456," a game from the past, and resurrected the deceased "Rockman X: DiVE" mobile game after making improvements. "Dragons Dogma 2" and "Ghost Trick" were revealed early by Capcom's developers and did not offer any unexpected news. The only real surprise was Capcom's new action IP "Knitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess." As for "Dino Crisis," it's doubtful that anyone has much interest in it. The most significant highlight of the event wasn't the introduction of a new IP but the return of "Pragmata," a game featuring a cute little girl who had previously become known for "delaying" its launch. The game was presented with a new trailer. In the trailer, we saw the game set in a space station, with our golden-haired little girl concentrating on drawing on a blank sheet of paper, while the player character, seemingly engaged in a passionate battle with robots. During subsequent scenes, we got a glimpse of some gameplay. However, the trailer also brought with it some negative news – the game had been delayed again, and there was no specific release date provided. Surprisingly, gamers appeared to be quite forgiving of "Pragmata's" repeated delays. Players seem willing to let Capcom take its time to polish the game. While "Pragmata" did experience a delay in 2021, this time around, Capcom showed gameplay footage to the fans, which made the wait more bearable. So, why were players more accepting of "Pragmata's" delays compared to the backlash "Cyberpunk 2077" faced for its delays? Let's first look back at the history of "Cyberpunk 2077." In 2020, the game was repeatedly delayed, leading to various promotional videos and messages from the developers. The exclusive pre-launch event "Night City Wire" also amped up the game's promotion. However, when the game was finally released, it was plagued with numerous bugs, especially on the console versions. The final quality of "Cyberpunk 2077" was far from what had been shown in early trailers, and this led to jokes about the "Xbox 2077 limited edition" which couldn't run "2077." In contrast, "Pragmata" didn't have as extensive or frequent promotional campaigns as "Cyberpunk 2077." Capcom primarily focused on game development and shared its creative delay announcement when they realized the project wasn't meeting their expectations. Also, Capcom, despite the delays, offered a glimpse of gameplay, giving players something to look forward to. This approach made players more forgiving, as they could see that progress was being made. Players were unlikely to feel like they were just being fed empty promises. Nonetheless, games like "Pragmata," which are delayed twice without a confirmed release date, often indicate that significant parts of the project are being reworked. In this case, there is speculation that "Pragmata" underwent a significant internal overhaul during development, leading to the second delay. Unfortunately, the specific details of these changes remain undisclosed. Based on the information released so far, Capcom seems determined to create an eye-catching new IP with "Pragmata." The game boasts exciting robot battles, a sci-fi space station setting, and a young girl with yet-to-be-revealed special abilities, generating substantial anticipation. Due to the limited information currently available, it's challenging to determine whether this IP will follow the path of "Cyberpunk 2077." However, one thing is clear – Capcom is indeed working diligently to bring something different to the table, and their effective use of the "cute girl" element has caught the attention of many. In contrast, there's a company attempting to replicate it but struggling to understand its appeal fully.
